Summary of the good practice

The desirability and benefits of wastewater reclamation and reuse have been well recognized by worldwide. China has taken great efforts in conserving and augmenting the limited water resources to meet the growing demands. Reclaimed water and rainwater can be applied in many ways and be considered as local, reliable, and considerably less costly water resources. As continuous development of technology and the reliability of wastewater reuse systems is widely demonstrated, wastewater reclamation and reuse will continue to expand as an essential element in sustainable water resources management.

We proposed that a pilot-scale anaerobic biofilm reactor and constructed wetland were used to treat domestic wastewater from several families. Organic matter, salt, and pathogens are removed efficiently through the combined processes. The constructed wetland is an integrated ecosystem, it’s an efficient wastewater treatment technology being developed and applied everywhere. It has such advantages as low investment, high quality effluent, simple operation etc. It’s a suitable technology for low income region and rural areas. Wastewater collection and treatment have been the common practice, wastewater reuse is practiced with proper attention to sanitation, public health and environmental protection.

A rain-fed agriculture including rainwater harvesting and water quality purification is a combined technical means to retain precipitation and improve the utilization efficiency of water resource. The RWCU (rain water collection to gather use) project was constructed to meet the water demand, including agricultural irrigation, Livestock drinking water.
