Abstract:

In 2015 and 2016, the occurrence of severe drought in many parts of Ethiopia posed a serious threat to farm households across the country. This brief presents the project that was designed and implemented by Farm Radio International (FRI) to make information available to vulnerable farm households and help them mitigate impacts of the drought and take measures that contribute to building sustainable resilience. The interactive radio programme they did helped rapidly informing communities, humanitarian organisations and local and regional governments on the likelihood of drought events, potential impacts and possible mitigation measures.
