Abstract:

This report documents the proceedings of the IGAD Gender and Resilience Knowledge Share Fair held on 31 August to 1 September 2022 in Mombasa, Kenya under the theme Gender Transformative Approach to Mitigating Climate Risks in Karamoja and Mandera Clusters (IGAD Cluster I and IGAD Cluster III). The share fair was held in response to the recent communique released by the IGAD member states on 13 May 2022 in response to the current devastating drought disaster in the IGAD region and the recently concluded IDDRSI 14th Platform Coordination meeting and 8th General Assembly’s recommendation’s and communique. This year’s theme is critically important to help rethink, Identify, and learn appropriate, and tailored transformative gender approaches in the context of the current devastating drought, COVID 19, conflict and migration and draws lessons from the various case studies in the Karamoja, and Mandera clusters where IGAD and other stakeholders have implemented various programs.
