Content managers from the stakeholders involved in the The Support for Effective Cooperation and Coordination of the Cross-border Initiatives in Southwest Ethiopia-Northwest Kenya, Marsabit-Borana and Dawa, and Kenya-Somalia-Ethiopia (SECCCI) took part in a training on a new knowledge portal on 9-11 December 2019 in Nairobi.
The participants were focal persons that will be responsible for uploading content for SECCCI project, Boresha, RASMI & SEEK, Omo-Delta Project and other regional resilience projects being coordinated by IGAD. The objectives of the training were to:
- Equip stakeholders of the SECCCI project with the minimum set of skills to be able to independently share and manage content on the online platform.
- Evaluate and receive feedback that will inform on the level to which the online platform meets user requirements.
About SECCCI Project
The Support for Effective Cooperation and Coordination of the Cross-border Initiatives in Southwest Ethiopia-Northwest Kenya, Marsabit-Borana and Dawa, and Kenya-Somalia-Ethiopia (SECCCI) Project, supported by the European Union Trust Fund (EUTF), is being implemented with the following objectives:
- To strengthen regional policy frameworks, structures and protocols for cross-border cooperation between national and local governments, the private sector, civil society and international technical and financial partners in development;
Capacities of communities, local governments, and civil society to fully engage in processes for development planning and results are built; - To ensure effective cooperation and coordination, monitoring and evaluation of cross-border initiatives including involvement of relevant national and regional actors in these processes.
The SECCCI project is underpinned by a theory of change which maintains that the complex inter-related challenges of the Horn of Africa require a coordinated response that partially rests upon improved cross-border cooperation. The systematic monitoring and evaluation, capturing and dissemination of good practices and lessons learnt, information sharing and support to networking and coordination of development and implementing partners is anticipated to contribute significantly to the achievement of an adaptive and evidence-based approach to cross-border cooperation.
Under Knowledge Management, the SECCCI project is developing an online platform for resilience actors, facilitating the use of KM tools and documentation and sharing of lessons learnt and good practices. This is aligned with the planned activities of the project in particular, those related synthesis and dissemination of a compendium of good practices and lessons learned in cross-border areas.
